Stage fright is a form of anxiety that most people often get as a result of being stressed to perform or having a panicked thought to perform and fear of facing a large crowd. It is mostly common amongst musicians, athletes, actors, public speakers and at times, teenagers. Dealing with this problem has proven to be quite difficult as most people with this form of anxiety tend to lose a lot of opportunities in their various positions probably at an office, school or other organizations. Its not an easy thing to get rid of and takes a lot of time, support and practice to adjust to.

It has been proven that out of a 100% of people with stage fright, 90-95% of them get over it with help from loved ones, families and friends. However, that doesn’t mean some necessary steps where not applied to achieve this. Below are some of the tips that I believe should help if not stop, reduce stage fright:

1.     Stay clear of negative thoughts

One of the many causes of stage fright is having negative thoughts and not thinking positively. This affects you in such a way that you gradually have low self esteem and thus gradually lose your balance and confidence to stand proud amongst people. Getting rid of thoughts such as ‘I can’t do this’, ‘what if they laugh’, ‘what if I fail’ etc will help you greatly in the future ahead. When thoughts like this cross your mind and you don’t make an attempt to get rid of it, it will prohibit you from taking a step and moving forward. Always stay clear, positive and look at the bright side of things. We all know the saying of how ones thought and mind can affect their action. So, it is important to have confidence and try to encourage yourself always.

A lot of people have had cases of how their stage fright reduces to a percentage every time they engage in a conversation with about 4-5 people new people. Believe it or not, this method actually works. You can start of this way by probably giving suggestions in a group work or amongst friends or colleagues and practicing presentations with them for help, encouragement and supervision.
